ok peter thinks that if your in the southern hemesphire your compass will point south, so everybody say which way you think compasses point in the southern hemesphere.

ok lots of people have already told me i'm wrong but heres my GOOD reasons:
if you look on a GOOD map/globe you will find near the poles a northern magnetic pole and a southern magnetic pole and all compasess point to the north magnetic pole so when your in the southern hemisphere why doesn't a compass point south cause everything is oppisite in the southen hemisphere right?
What makes you think that just because you are, oh, say 100 miles south of the equator, for example, that suddenly south is north and vice versa?

at the time i believed this theory i was correctly thinking that ench magnetic pole is a end of the huge magnetic that runs through the earth from magnetig pole to magnetic pole thats why your compass points north because it's magnetised. so i didn't realize that one end of the magnet must be negetive and the other positive! therefore the south magnetic pole is negetively charged and the north positive like with brio trains when you try to connect the wrong end it pushes away.
so my reason of thinking that a compass would point south is cause i thought if your compass is magneticly trigered to point north then why would it not point south since most things are oppisite in the southern hemisphere
